We offer assorted collectibles, trinkets, whatnots, and whoziwhatsits depending on what we get in. The spirit of Hippo Hardware is to rejoice in the individual, the unique, and the original. Hippo Hardware was officially established in 1976 after the founders Steven Miller and Stephen Oppenheim decided to turn a life of swashbuckling adventures into a second life of swashbuckling adventures. We live in the local, even for our customers far away. That means you will probably hear a story about burying a Porsche in a state park while you are asking about a faucet or meet Fred the shop dog while you're paying for a light fixture. We strongly support community projects, teachers, artists, adventurers, dreamers, and one-man-bands. If you're looking for a hard to find hardware pattern or can't find the match to your lamp shade, we'd be happy to tell you if we have it, seen it, or know where you could get it. To make sure you get what you need, we offer the following services: Lighting and Lamp Repair - We have a fully UL certified lighting repair shop. We can repair and rewire most vintage or antique fixtures. You may want to call or e-mail if it's newer, but we can sometimes fix those too. Shop prices are $80/hour plus parts. Customizing - We do our best to make sure it looks just right. Our lighting shop can customize length, finishes, plating, and configuration. Our plumbing department will coordinate refinishing with local companies. The hardware department is able to darken, refinish, clean, and rebuild. Our services can vary depending on staff so please contact us with your project details. Returns - Accepted for any reason within 2 weeks of purchase. That means if it doesn't fit, if your sweetheart doesn't like it, if it doesn't match your paint scheme. Receipt required. If your items were shipped: Shipping refunded only in the case of defective items. Hippo does not refund original OR return shipping cost. What My Customers Are Saying Greg S. - Bathroom Renovation “We gutted our bathroom and kitchen and used Ryan for all of the plumbing. Ryan was hands down the best out of all the construction professionals I have ever worked with. He showed up on time, did exactly what we discussed (and a few extra things we didn’t) and he taught me a few things along the way. I highly recommend Ryan for any plumbing projects.” Mieka L. - Kitchen Renovation “During Covid I fully renovated my Kitchen. Ryan was referred to me from a friend, he was competitively priced, on time, professional, and made our under sink area look like art. It’s too bad his work is covered up inside the cabinets and walls.” Carissa S. - Water Heater Replacement “I knew my water heater was old when I bought my unit, but soon after I moved in (mid-winter) it leaked everywhere and I needed to replace it fast. A friend recommended Ryan and he was not only the fastest to respond, but got it done the next morning. Thank you.” Check Out My Google Reviews Working with Ryan, The Boston Plumber Reach out for an estimate Start the conversation by calling 617-249-4831 or completing our contact form at the bottom of this page. Emergency Plumber FAQs

Experiencing a plumbing emergency? Find answers to common questions and connect with reliable 24/7 emergency plumbers in USA through Plumbyng.

What causes a burst pipe?

Burst pipes are typically caused by:
  • Freezing temperatures: Water expands when it freezes, putting immense pressure on pipes that can cause them to burst.
  • High water pressure: Excessive water pressure in the pipes can weaken them over time, leading to ruptures.
  • Corrosion: Pipes can corrode and weaken over time, making them susceptible to breakage.
  • Tree roots: Tree roots growing into sewer or water pipes can cause damage and leaks.
  • Ground settling: Movement or shifting of the ground can put stress on pipes, causing breaks.
  • Old or damaged pipes: Pipes that are old or damaged from previous issues are more likely to burst.
If you notice wet spots or hear unusual sounds in your walls, consult a plumber as quickly as possible.

How much does an emergency plumber cost?

Emergency plumbing services typically cost more than regular plumbing services due to the urgency and after-hours nature of the work. The cost will depend on several factors, including the type of service, the time of day or night (weekends and holidays are usually more expensive), the plumber's experience and qualifications, and the specific location. It's crucial to get a clear and detailed quote upfront. Plumbyng can help you find emergency plumbers in your area.

What is covered by home insurance for plumbing emergencies?

Home insurance coverage for plumbing emergencies varies depending on your specific policy and the cause of the damage. Typically, burst pipes due to freezing temperatures or sudden and unexpected failures may be covered. However, damage caused by negligence (such as failure to maintain the plumbing system properly) may not be covered. Always review your policy details carefully or contact your insurance company to understand your exact coverage.

How to stop a toilet from overflowing?

If a toilet is overflowing, try to turn off the water supply immediately. This usually involves a shut-off valve behind or beneath the toilet. If the water continues to overflow, try to use a plunger to clear the blockage. It's best to call a professional plumber, especially for persistent overflowing, as this might indicate a more serious plumbing problem.
